Hello students and parents,
School will begin on August 22, 2019, and I look forward to meeting all of you.
Here are my recommendations for what to bring back to school with you that are priceless and can only be found from within:
1) Have a great attitude and readiness to learn with a growth mindset.
2) Respect yourself, others, and the learning environment; be responsible and try to do your best; and commit to reaching your goals by the time you intended.
3) Try to remain organized and capable through many techniques and tips you'll learn this year.
Recommendations for things that you can buy to support your classroom and learning experience:
1) 2 single-subject-spiral-bound college-ruled notebooks (1 for English Language Arts and 1 for Social Studies)
2) sharpened pencils
3) boxes of tissue that can be shared with others with sniffles
Once again, I look forward to spending the upcoming school year with you. If you need to reach out to me, you can e-mail me at email@example.com or leave me a message at (408)556-0360, ext. 5026.
Conference week is a time for teachers, parents, and students to discuss proactive ways for students to be successful learners and citizens. Conferences can occur by phone, e-mail, in person, or through Google voice. If you would like to discuss your student's progress before or after conference week, the best way to contact me is through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
This year's theme for the 8th grade exhibition requirements have been changed. Students will learn about this 8th grade promotion requirement through their Social Studies teacher, and they can be supported by all of their academic teachers as well. Parents are encouraged to follow their student's progress on their exhibition by asking their student questions about what they've learned, accomplished, want to do, and still need to complete by specific due dates.
Please read the course syllabi for 8th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies or AVID Excel. Feel free to contact me at email@example.com if you have any questions.
Feel free to consult the dates below for upcoming events or due dates. It is a student's responsibility to know the assignments and their due dates, which will be posted in class and Google classroom.
Students are highly encouraged to use an organization system to remind them of due dates and assignments, such as a binder system, a daily planner, or an app, such as a Google calendar app or "Alarmed" (app store) on their phones or personal devices.
First Day of School:
